5 Tips to Make Money Blogging on WordPress (The Secret Sauce)

WordPress has become accepted as the industry standard for simple website design. The simplicity of the platform has can enable ANYBODY to start their own website and online business regardless of their experience or background.

It is entirely possible to make money blogging on WordPress because there will always be people searching the internet for answers to their questions. The internet has over 4 billion users. To monetize (or make money with) that audience, you only need a small fraction of people to trust you and buy from you to earn a full-time income online.

In this article, I will analyze 7 PROVEN tips that will give you the tools you need to build a blog from scratch using WordPress and make money with it. It is not very difficult to do, but it takes time and persistence.

Let's consider the 7 tips...

1. Find Streams of Income

The very first thing you need to do is find a way to get paid.

There are huge amounts of affiliate programs on the internet that you should be able to find one by doing a simple Google search.

For example, go to Google, type your niche or interest and add "+ affiliate program". So, for the sake of argument, if your interest was coffee, type "coffee + affiliate program".

This will turn up tons of affiliate programs you can sign up for 100% free.

Typically, I recommend partnering directly with a vendor rather than their counterpart at Amazon or Wal-Mart. This is because Amazon is an amazing place to send your affiliate targeted traffic, however, they are notorious for paying low commissions. Commissions are as low as 3-4% on average.

Understand that you will be directing big traffic to these offers, so even a mere 3-4% commission can get you thousands of dollars a month. But why not send the same traffic to offers that will pay you more than 5 times as much?

Use the Google trick and find those "diamond in the rough" type affiliate programs that are really making people tons of money online.

PRO TIP: Find multiple streams of income.

Maximize the amount of money you are making by exposing your traffic to multiple products that can create multiple streams of income. For example, if you are in the coffee niche, then you can also monetize other coffee related items. Coffee mugs, filters, coffee makers, French presses, etc...

Catch my drift?

If you have these coffee related streams of income, you can diversify your income and not be dependent on one particular aspect of the coffee industry. You can use the coffee affiliate you joined, but you can also throw Amazon products in there, too.

Once you have your stream of income selected it is now time to move on to our next tip to get you making money with blogging on WordPress is to...

2. Take Action and Buy A Domain and Hosting

"Taking Action" seems obvious and, to be honest, it shouldn't have to addressed, but you leave me no choice.

There is a class of people who all they want to do is learn. They get stuck in this "learning" phase where all they do is learn, learn, and learn, some more. These rarely take action to what they are learning.

You, however, are not going to be that way. You are going to take action and put to good use the tips that you have been learning for so long.

To take action, you need to think of a brand-able domain and get good hosting. Your domain name is like the address to your house. You are choosing a name that will be used to address your site within Google.

What I mean by a brand-able domain is a website name that exemplifies your brand. For example, BenjisDad.com is my brand. My goal is to make that name BenjisDad synonymous with blogging coaching and making money online.

A couple of tips to help you choose a good brand name domain for your site is to make sure it is something that is easy to spell, memorable, rolls off the tongue, and easy to type.

If the domain is like your address, then the hosting is like the house containing your stuff or your site. So when looking for hosting, be sure to choose a GOOD host. There are plenty of hosting companies out there that claim to be $0.01 or so, to those I say, "You Get What You Pay For...". Do not fall prey to cheap hosting companies because you will regret it when your website is always down and you cannot get in.

Some of the best things to consider when buying a host is to learn their limits in terms of how much bandwidth you get per month, their customer service, how many visitors you can have on the site in a month, and long-term pricing. Is what you are paying for going to remain consistent as the site ages or are the rates going to skyrocket?

One of my favorite hosting companies is A2Hosting.com. Check them out for the latest pricing (the link includes a 50% discount as well) They provide all the things that I mentioned plus more. Be sure to check out my review of them right here on YouTube.

3. Become An Authority Within Your Niche

To become an authority within your niche or interest, you need to know a lot about it. Knowing a lot about your subject will help in making sure that the research that you do with the topic does not bore you and you won't mind doing the extra work to make articles informative.

One roadblock that I get most often is with people not believing in themselves thinking they do not know enough about any topic to create a blog on.

You know about something. There is something that interest you, something that you like. Just tap into it and allow me to teach you how you can monetize it. In fact, check out a video I have that solves that problem right here.

Once you have gotten over that terrible confidence issue, you will be able to grab life by the horns and get started with your vision.

If you checked out the video mentioned above, you know that you can become that 4% of people that just knows enough about a subject than 95% of those that don't have time or just do not even know that your great niche even exists.

Use that knowledge and make money with it. It is not as difficult as it may seem, but you have to give yourself the chance.

Once you have the knowledge and authority within your niche, you can then become an "influencer". An influencer gains the trust of visitors to your site and overtime they come to trust you.

When they trust you, they buy from you.

Always remember that people buy into people. You being as knowledgeable about your subject as you are can be that person or influencer that people need in order to become what they want to be in your niche.

The perfect example of this would have to be Kim Kardashian. She is an influencer. She can wear clothes, perfumes, jewelry, hair styles, and people watch and copy her style. So she makes money from it by affiliating herself with brands BEFORE she wears them. She says something to the effect of, "this is what I use to smell and look good", and people copy her and go out and buy it, too. In which case, she get's a commission.

Understand how it works now? You can be the Kim Kardashian of your niche. Do not sell yourself short, you can do this. You just need a little confidence in yourself.

When they trust you, they buy from you.

4. Build Your Audience

This is very close to the "influencer" marketing that we were talking about earlier. But the key to becoming an influencer is to have an audience to influence.

How to do you build an audience?

You need to find a way to connect with the people that are looking for your services. My favorite way to do this would be by blogging. Blogging allows you to write targeted and relevant articles answering specific questions for people within your niche.

Using the coffee example from earlier, you could blog about "how to make coffee using a French Press?" After you put the finishing touches on your new post, you can now post it on the internet and wait for it to rank. Once ranked, you will start to attract people that are interested in using a French Press with their coffee.

Those readers are so impressed with your thorough explanation that you can now offer for them to join your mailing list (like this one) or something to that effect. Once they are on your mailing list, you can mail their value email and other offers related to coffee. Then you get instant money every time you email.

It really is just that simple.

it is a slow process, but when done correctly, you can build a massive website and have dozens if not hundreds of fresh, new leads every day. Then you are truly on autopilot and can let the site grow on its own.

5. Interact With Your Audience

Once you have built this massive audience, you can now become more than just the written word on a webpage, you can become something more... a friend.

You do this by interacting with your audience. This is a big deal. You want to be personable with your audience. Using words like, "I" and "you" in your writing. You can further interact by responding to comments on your blog. If you are creating videos to supplement your content, you can respond to any and all comments that appear on your videos.

Remember to do real insightful comments as well, not just quick, "thanks!" and move on.

Engage your audience.

To increase comments on your blogs and videos, always ask a question to people that are commenting on your page. This will spur conversation and double the comments on your creative pieces.

When you are new, it is relatively easy to keep up with EVERY comment that hits your sites. However, as time goes on and you grow at an alarming rate, it does become more and more time-consuming to keep commenting away.

To that I suggest that you take the time to connect with your audience. The relationships it engenders are worth its weight in gold. People like Neil Patel ask all the time for people to comment and that he will answer each one. Even though he gets thousands of comments, you can always go back onto his videos and see that he indeed responded to each comment he could.

The key to breaking through is to be a helpful resource. Be to people what they want to be and help direct them to where you currently are.

6. Plan Your Growth Strategy

One mistake that I see a lot of new people commit is that they do not treat their side business as just that... a business.

Congratulations, you are the new CEO of your very own company.

Treat your business as a business and you will be able to see your business grow. WIth the internet being what it is, you can grow at exponential rates.

If you do not plan, you are doomed to fail or severely limit your success.

So what kind of strategy can you build?

A good business is one where you make yourself less and less necessary, yet the business continues to grow. The best way to do this using a WordPress site is to learn to delegate. This will involve hiring contractors and assigning work to them so that you as the CEO can concentrate on more important things to grow your business.

I use places such as Upwork.com and Fiverr.com to get good labor on very monotonous work. For example, I currently hire someone to run part of my other social media posts and responses to people. This free's me up to create more quality content and increase the leads going into the sales funnel.

After a while, I may be able to contract that out as well and take month long vacations and make money while I'm laying out on a beach. Do you see the power in growing?

But you need a strategy to do such. Make yourself less necessary to your business success by hiring people to do every day tasks and you can focus on building awareness about the brand.

7. Scale Your Business

Your growth strategy will contain ways in which you can scale your business to bigger heights. Scaling is the ability to grow your site at an exponential rate. Do not leave this up to chance, hoping an article just goes viral. Take control of your scalability by analyzing what is making the money in your business and bombarding it with people to benefit from it.

For example, if you created a YouTube video that seems to be getting tons of views organically (through search) and those views are converting into customers, then you should do everything in your power to get people to watch the video. You can do this by posting on forums, Reddit threads, or one of my personal favorites, Pay Per Click or PPC.

I stress that this should only be done once your site is making money, but reinvest that money into growing your business and doing what you can to scale it. Using PPC, you can jump ahead of those that are trying to rank organically and steal clicks.

You do have to pay for PPC, but as long as you are making more money than you are putting into it, you will come out ahead. Always try to put in $1 and get $2 back. If you can achieve that, you will always be ahead and can scale your business and make an enormous amount of money.

Always try to put in $1 and get $2 back.
